In four trips to Europe, this is the book that I refuse to leave home without. My copy is now tattered and dog-eared. Wood has compiled a comprehensive list of cheap places to sleep, varying from hotels, youth hostels, camping facilities, dormitories, and even tavern rooftops in Greece. I recommend updating the book every two years or so because some places go out of business and new ones pop up. This book is the definite must-have for the backpacking traveler that is trying to save a few quid a night and isn't too fastidious or dependent on luxury accomodations. Wood's recommendations are cheap, clean, and safe places to sleep. She covers Western Europe and pretty much all of Eastern, including the Mediterranean and Balkan countries.
