The book is geared towards those with a basic understanding of the Russian alphabet and pronunciation in order to use it. If you have no understanding of the Russian language, do not buy this book. I suggest you sign up for a language class or a more comprehensive Berlitz course. This book is not for amateurs even though it is written in a very simple and concise format. From Amazon.com
