Paul Christensen has produced a smart and scholarly look at one of the key social groups in post-Soviet Russia -- the working class. While there have been a lot of books published in recent years that discuss the prospects for internal peace and economic growth in the former Soviet Union, Christensen's is one of only a tiny number to focus on the class that was supposed to benefit from the 1917 Revolution.
